Ah, yet another New Years resolutions post.
Some love ‘em, some hate ‘em but I’m all about personal development and I always think it’s great to take stock of things even if it’s just once a year.
So here are mine. My New Years resolutions – in the hopes that if they’re written in digital stone, I can hold myself somewhat accountable and make an attempt to keep them.
Be more honest
This year, I’m determined to be more honest and say what I think. I have a terrible habit of people-pleasing and saying just what I think people like to hear. It probably stems from a fear of being judged or disliked but this year I’m going to work very hard to conquer it because failing to speak my mind or tell the truth has bitten me in the ass a few times and I don’t want it to happen again.
The thing I’m probably most embarrassed about is that I have a really hard time making friends. I have a lot of acquaintances and people I know but I don’t really have any true friendships. This year, I’m going to socialise more and make an attempt to get to know a few more people because it would be really nice to have someone to chat to or go for coffee or shopping with every once in a while.
Get a hobby
Right now, my hobbies include scrolling through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat. So for 2016 I’m going to expand my interests and take up some new hobbies and revive old ones.
Be more curious
Something I’ve learned recently is that the most intelligent people are the ones who are naturally curious, always listening and learning. This year I’m going to strengthen my curiosity muscles and ask more questions and strive to broaden my knowledge.
Take care of my body
In 2015, I lost quite a bit of weight, as I was exercising a lot and not eating enough. As a result, for the first time in my life, I felt unwell and unhealthy. My hair and skin suffered, as did my mood and energy levels and I got sick so often. From that, I’ve truly come to appreciate and value my body and learn that if you take care of it, it will take care of you. In 2016, I’m going to eat a lot more and drink a lot more water.
